Hi Guys! I just got finished with Camp with my church! I had a great time with my friends and I had some time to read! I am currently about halfway through with "The Brooklyn Nine" by Alan Grates. I am really enjoying this book! It's prefect for me because I love baseball! (:
"The Brooklyn Nine" is a book about a family and their history in baseball. The book has nine "innings" each telling a story of the son /daughter of each generation. I've learned more about baseball history and the past of Manhattan, New York. So far the thing I've really taken away from reading this book is family value. This family has a lot of pride and stories to tell about their heritage. Each story ties in an artifact that their father/mother ( From the previous inning) has given them. It's neat because you basically get to know their family tree and get attached to their family. It was also somewhat suspenseful and a few of the innings are cliff hangers... I cannot wait to finish the book now!
“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.”
― William Styron, Conversations with William Styron
I feel that this quote is especially true with this book, so far I've lived about four generations of history in Manhattan, New York, as family member of the Schneider's (Funny because cousins last name is Schneider!) And it really is exhausting, to go from teenage girl by day, to amateur baseball boy by night!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction and baseball. I am interested in to looking at my families history, and finding out more about my roots and what the Kinder family has accomplished! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and having a lots of fun! And reading books, of course! Ta-Ta for now!

An eye opener!
Hey guys! I'm finally putting an end to my procrastination! I recently finished reading the book of my choice, "Out of my Mind" by Sharon Draper. It was a great book and quite eye opening. I've learned not to take my gift of having a voice for granted or my ability to walk and have motor control. We don't realize how blessed we are to have that! We should take time to thank God for that everyday, and that he chose for us to be this way. <3
The book is about a girl named Melody who has a photographic memory, but is handicapped. She knows hundreds of thousands words, but never in her eleven years has she spoken a single one. She's basically a genius trapped in a handicapped body. All she wants is to be accepted and to be like normal kids. Her school adds a new program where they mix the "Special Ed" kids with the "normal kids" in the classes, similar to what our school does (I'm very proud of that)! Melody finds that technology can be very dandy and help her fit in and achieve her goals. This story should inspire everyone who reads it to be the best they can be and to aim high!
The girl in this story, Melody has the same disease as Stephen Hawking, which is Lue Gehrig's disease. This disease causes your muscles to lose strength because they are incapable of getting the necessary nourishment they need. Also, this disease damages your neurons in your brain and spinal cord, mainly causing you the loss of speech. In most cases people don't survive very long after diagnosis, which is why Melody (even though she is a fictional character) is such an inspiration along with Stephen Hawking.
I realized that just because a person is classified as "Special Ed" you shouldn't underestimate them. You may never know what it's like not to be able to communicate, to voice your opinion, just to walk around, and not to have friends... The next book I plan on reading is "The Brooklyn Nine" because I'm really missing my baseball boys (the season is over, they placed 3rd in the league!) I hope everyone has had a good summer so far, and that they've learned something about life. I certainly have! So on that note, go out read, make a friend, believe in yourself, and learn something!(:

An Open Mind and New Assignment
Hey Guys! I'm so ready to get out of school and enjoy summer! I didn't read but 3 books this past school year so this assignment should be good for me! It's my job to read three books and blog about them over the summer!
The three books I plan on reading are; "The Brooklyn Nine" by Alan Gratz, "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford, and "The Beach Trees" by Karen White. "The Brooklyn Nine" is a story about baseball. If you know me well enough, you know that there is nothing I love more than sitting and watching a baseball game on a hot summer day!<3 I'm really excited to read this book! "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" is a love story, and tell me, who doesn't like a good love story? "The Beach Trees" is a book about broken families, from the back it sounds really interesting!
I'm going have to try hard to find time to blog this summer, between all these volunteer weeks, and a two week long trip to California! You'll never know where I'm blogging to you from!(:
I'm going to take on this assignment with an open mind and hope I can rediscover my once had love of reading! So check in often, and maybe you'll discover a love of reading too!
